I have started been watching tonight a BBC series made in the 70’s about WW2, the major battles and turning points. Rather suitable really considering that we are now drifting into a prolonged war in Iraq, or “peace keeping” mission, or whatever it’s called.
Iraqis certainly know how to work the crowd so to speak, taking Japanese hostages and saying if Japan leaves iraq, they will get their people back. I wonder if they intend to do that to alot of other nations, and take hostages, and blackmail the various armies to go home. Will they do it? This is obviously a critical moment now in Iraq, and the response by the coalition of the willing will certainly show their resolve. However the damage is done, and leaving iraq now would be very bad for the world, as it will create a terrorist state like Afghanistan. The US must grit their teeth hand over contol to the UN and hope that it will be enough for the Iraqis to calm down and start fixing their country up again and hopefully limit the damage done by American Policy. I have no doubt that Osama will find Iraq a wonderful place to recruit more terrorists from.
