The post I’ve been dying to make all night
It finally has bubbled to the surface, seething emotions, boiling away in the back of my mind as I sit, after submitting my resume to Seek.com.au in the vain hope of finding work in the next couple of weeks to replace the job that suddenly has become very very unstable.
X asked Y to call me, to pass on a message to call X in MapleLeafLand and so I did, she told me a story about the big meeting she and everyone else in the company went to. Everyone did their presentations and she did not get to do hers. Instead FW (short for f**kwit sent her one and only vocal ally to a meeting with techies, and thus the inquisition began. With BONPA* and the CEO sitting together on one side of the room, they questioned X about her ability to do the job, made claims that her team were sending emails to accounts which could be dealt with by support, that they didn’t really know what support did, and was there a need for support to actually be manned 24/7.
There we had it. The reason for the ambush. Support was to be cut from 24/7 down to 12/7. X tried to discuss it rationally, but didn’t have access to the data to answer the questions, she was accused of not providing stats, but she hadd, she was accused of not being professional, of not being mature enough to deal with her job and the current conversation blah blah blah blah blah.. in the end she resigned. She told CEO to shove his job up his ass. Go X.
What happened next? well, lots of crying, other Managers running up to her room periodically to see how she was going, including BONPA, and X remembering some time during that night saying after the go stick your job up your ass comment, that she hoped he gets what he deserves. Seems like he might do that now. CEO and BONPA were seen on the side of a road, so, some of the managers who were being driven around the city and recognising his car decided to pull over and beep and say “HI”. In the middle of all the hand waving, and smiling, which continued when he finally stopped molesting his wife in the front seat, apparently almost in the act of copulation, they all had the opportunity to see who was in the seat, and their waving and enthusiasm took a hit, as they saw BONPA and not CEO’s wife in the car adjusting herself. SCANDALOUS!
God knows what the gossip is going to be like now. However, X is jobless, her email account is disabled, her bot access disabled, a severance pay will be discussed in the morning, and I guess she’ll be able to clear the decks before leaving the land of the Mapleleaf and winging it back home.
I don’t know what will happen to support here. We may lose our jobs and they might pull support from oz. In any case, I have advised some people already to start looking for other work, and I finish perfecting my resume and contemplate my future, which in the short term, is now looking very grim.
Other news
I have an E-stalker! Called Ben, he didn’t like my old tagboard colour scheme (no surprise) since it matched the old look of the site. I changed it, and then purchased a licence for tagboard for a year. I am adding him to the WA blog sites i have listed so he feels like he is in exalted company (ie:with David). All the moons must have been aligned however, as Ben found me on IRC yesterday and proceeded to harrass me! then some time later, David logged on! So the three of us gossipped for a while, which was pretty cool. However I have found out they are closet fascists (vote for the OTHER side) and after much soul searching have decided to embrace the difference because they’re such nice guys.
