Ethics. When does that line blur?

I asked mum tonight during a phone call if I had compromised my ethics and my belief system. I am and always have held myself to be highly principled. I don’t talk behind other people’s backs, I am not hypocritical, but a talk with Ben made me question myself, so I rang mum and asked her.

History
The company I work for when I started had a very nice man as the CEO. He made people happy and want to work for him.
Then with some boardroom skullduggery he was ditched, he wasn’t paid out his investment and he was left out to hang. The man they replaced him with, at first seemed like he was really cool. However, over the last 10 months things have been said and done which has inspired extreme dislike. He bonked BONPA so cheating on his wife, that to me whilst normally none of anyone’s business, has affected my workplace conditions since she is now my new manager. He yelled at support staff regularly, he treated my boss appallingly, with some of the emails he sent her made me blush to read. Then there was the way he abused the technical staff calling them c*nts and lazy f*cks and totally incapable of doing their work. Then he sacked some other people, and didn’t give them their entitlements, or pay out their contracts and so he’s tied the company up in litigation with 3 people.. just a whole pile of things so I don’t have any respect for him, or the woman he has now put in place instead of my Boss.

The industry some of the sites i do support for, aren’t really that ethical, they DoS eachother regularly, some mafia-type organisations have developped some protection rackets happening, and slowly everyone I work with has been trying to remove themselves from the industry and get stuck into working with people who have ethics in business. So should I help this man that I have no respect for? or leave him to self destruct ? My boss informed him of an attempt to steal clients and he ranted and raved at her, for 2 hours however, we didn’t inform him about another attempt - should we have? should we respect the company and the directors who treat staff and ex-staff like dirt? Yes, there’s 2 sides to a story, but i guess there is bullying and intimidation tactics to make staff comply to his rule.

So I asked mum, and she thinks that I didn’t compromise myself. She said, “Loyalty and respect is earnt, and it’s hard to help a man that you don’t respect to earn money.” I guess she has a point, with her working history. But so does Ben.
