Mmmm nearly free stuff
A few days ago, some computers appeared for sale on the intranet at work, so I picked up for $75 a Tang PIII 450; 64 megs of ram; 4Gig HDD; 40X CDRom; floppy disk; 15″ monitor; keyboard and assortment of cables. I commandeered some of my friends during our “lunch” break at 4.00pm and dumped the lot in my car, and when I got home, told dad I had purchased a computer to put together something decent for my sister. She needs a basic system for her work.
So, yesterday we dug up some ram to throw into the machine and bugger, it only takes slow SDRam *sigh* but that’s ok. We also found an obsolete copy of Win2k and installed it on the machine and I did the service pack thing, and then installed on it non windows bits. All things mozilla, and open office. Basically it was to ensure my sister had something that ran well and not too sluggish. It has been a success. She has a computer that works - mostly thanks to me! *struts*
