heh - transition completed

I moved everything over to Linux, and I have discovered something! There are linux snobs out there! “you’re using redhat? use debian!” was one comment. Sure I could do that, I could use other flavours of *nix but I chose Fedora.. Why? Because a non linux ween0r like myself could install it, and actually find that it works! I didn’t need half a dozen files after installing it, just to get the mouse working, or the sound card, or the network card. I didn’t feel the need to demonstrate my |337ness to the world by installing a brand of linux so complex I need an IQ of 200.

Sure windows has its place in the world, but I for one and sick and tired of using Microsoft products and having my firewall alert me saying that Microsoft is trying to connect to the internet. If I wanted my software to report to microsoft everything I type, then I would have kept Microsoft on my computer. I guess I suffer a lack of trust :P I more or less had the firewall in place to keep information in my computer and stop it leaving my computer, not actually to keep intruders out!

I am learning some linux commands, I used to hoon around in DOS alot before Win95 was invented, and getting back to my command line roots makes me feel safe! like I am in control. I am definitely in the I am dangerous to my operating system stage at the moment, I install things, click on other things and ask that dreaded question around the world, “what does this do?” before trying it. The post is early today because I have work starting at 5.30am.. *sigh*

I am missing one of my friends too! He’s on holidays and send me SMS at each stage till he got to his destination nice and safe. I hope he has a great time, he’s visiting Canaidia! Be nice any canooks reading this!
