Terrorism
terrorism is the calculated use of violence (or threat of violence) against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature; this is done through intimindation or coercion or instilling fear.
That is the definition of what Terrorism is, and right now - whoever the terrorists are who are making bombs go off, or detonators in the UK are working hard to intimidate Great Britain. Not sure why they are doing it - possibly due to Iraq, possibly due to the support of the Great White Extremist Christian Country called the US.
Thing is, I think it’s going to be hard to intimidate a country that has had domestic terrorism through the IRA for decades, fought off the Germans in WW2 and survived the Blitz, a country that has been the bedrock of the British Empire for several hundred years and still has teeth.
What concerns me is when they turn their attention to Australia, just how uncomfortable is it going to be, living in a country which has people from many races. We have welcomed everyone from around the world and said, come and join us, and possibly, some of these immigrants could end up being terrorists. But wait - that’s what the Government wants us to think. Let’s look at the Dob-in-a-terrorist line. You see something suspicious, someone acting odd, call us, we’re trained to deal with your call. I can see perhaps half the block of units next door I could dob in as terrorists. Seriously - these people never sleep, lights are on, cars slamming doors, trucks pulling up and leaving with loads of furniture, rubbish, who knows.. maybe that’s a couch bomb being loaded into that ACE hire truck.
In fact, I believe boat people are terrorists. That’s why they are locked up for 7 years, by the time they are released they need to be hospitalised for psychiatric issues.
If we just stopped licking GWB arse, and thought for ourselves, and maybe said.. Hey - Afghanistan is one thing we know Osama is there (was), but Iraq? No you can deal with that all by yourself buddy, then maybe, just maybe - we wouldn’t have seen the carnage and fear we see now.
Now we are stuck. We’ve gone in and muddied up the water, kicked over some sandcastles, and we have to stay to fix up the mess, rebuild and apologise to the tens of thousands of civilians killed by this war. Not just the iraqi’s - but those who have died in subsequent terror attacks in different countries since 2001.
