 Ebayer gets caught out.

Ebay is a haven for those of us who like a bargain.

Like the guy onWP, who purchased a calculator from someone in QLD,
got a bit suspicious about the whole thing.

Seems as though a school thief flogging calculators from a particular Queensland college may be getting his comeuppance.

Should be interesting to read the conclusion to this one.

 Flag burning

I encountered the most stunning picture on the BBC news website, of a burning israeli flag. I decided i wanted see other photo’s of nation’s flags burning. There were alot of US flags being burnt. I place below some flag burning pictures from the US; UK; Japan; Mexico; Israel and Australia. The URL’s listed for each country show the website I obtained these burning images from.

Israel

Mexico

Rule Britannia

USA

Japan

AussieAussieAussie

I need to point out something … All of these photo’s where taken during protests, some ugly, some racist, religious, political protests. Whilst I am aware, that there are news articles of students who burnt the Australian flag as a protest, the only one i could find as a picture on google, was a typical Aussie barbie, with some drunken yobbos having fun and burning the flag for a bit of a laugh. In some way, I find that ironic.

 Spammer replies…

Well I checked my mailbox tonight and I had a bit of a surprise waiting for me. Care of this post, I wrote about the man who had a friend of mine who was going to be a cousin and he died etc. He replied.

madam,

Good day to you.I really undrstand your bitterness towards certain individuals who have decided to fraudulently siphon other peoples hard earned money.you might wonder why i chose to reply from this address but be rest assured that as much as you dont want to lose your money to scammers so also do i not want to lose (mine).Ma,it is quite unfortunate that i happen to bear the same name with a fraudulent impostor;i also want to thank you for informing me becos i might have to desist from using that screen name since miscreants have soiled it and put my good name to disrepute.

Oh boy, I started giggling when I read this paragraph. It’s obvious that he didn’t search google often enough to see other people are pasting his emails, all about similar things and all calling him a scam artist. Here’s the thing, he’s offering me money, but he is saying, yes i can see you don’t want to lose your money to scammers? Where did i need to give him money? Maybe I should reply

It is true that i have sent mails to different individuals informing them about my client’s demise and his wealth but i have never defrauded anybody and i dont intend doing so either now or in the nearst future. It is all in my bid to get a sincere and honest individual who can help me in this transaction that i searched the net.

Ok that’s fine, but I would like to know how he got my email address.

I have looked for any of his relatives to no avail before i started looking for somebody to help me in this transaction. You sound like a very intelligent young lady and i wish marriage were possible but you also sound like a rascist.

So because I mentioned we might be the wrong colour I am now racist? Was he assuming I was going to be white? What if I am chinese? He never mentioned nationality of my dead cousin. It’s nice that he thinks I am intelligent.

You can reach me through this address with your personal contacts let us reason together like two matured minds. This is my personal address but i plead with you to keep it to yourself(internet thieves abound).

OK.. so I can reach him through this email address.. and he wants it kept secret? Hands up who wants his email address here it is: d_henry@walla.com I find it laughable that he’s talking about internet thieves..

I believe we can reach a mutual compromise and maybe smile to the bank if you care.
i remain

Not sure what he remains, but I guess yes, he does. I’ll send off my reply and see what happens next :D

 Work matters..

After a conversation tonight, I got thinking about some of the workplaces I have worked in, and that I repeat the same mistake over and over again.

I worked for a training college and had a manager who apart from being a man, was big, ex army, walked around like he owned the company, and yelled alot. I note he also had one testicle as he told me in one conversation during a late afternoon coffee after a particularly hard day with screaming ADHD kids had found the coke machine across the road.

He shared information about his life with me, and I listened. I didn’t share much back because in my mind it wasn’t professional. But on the other hand, it meant that I understood him alot better and was able to work with him. Sometimes we fought about decisions I made, I forgot my place a few times, he called into question my professionalism and I would say nothing, or when I reported being sexually harrassed, he told me I was being oversensitive.

But still there were countless hours of being in his office, taking dictation, laughing at his jokes, making sure that he looked good. I did alot for him. I prepared his budgets, I rang up business partners to ask for the money they owed us for that month. I went over resumes and selected potential staff for him to look at and choose which ones to interview. Then when the company won a contract, he thanked everyone except me.

I got another job a while later and found that people said thank you to me for helping them. I’m much happier now. Thing is after he left, I found out that a few people in that office thought I was having an affair with him. I was with M at the time. I was pretty upset that people thought so low of me, or thought I was capable of it. I worked with them for over 2 years.

If you are going to work with a strong personality, you need to be loyal and try and smooth the ways if they frequently go off the deep end, and that’s what my old manager used to do. Thus is was my job to keep damage control in check. Things don’t really change over time. I still do the same thing.

 Someone left me money!

I got an email .. from someone in the UK who wrote..

Late Engr.Mark.N.Perez, until his death was a former managing director and pioneer staff of a giant construction company, he was a devout Christian and a dedicated member of our parish, he was a great philanthropist and this earned him a papal award during his life time He lived and worked here as a foreigner and requested before his death that he be buried here in his words” I regard here as my home and the people as my people” The good news here, is that he left a will in your name as a beneficiary to the bequest of the sum of US$3,000.000 [Three million dollars] in the codicil and last testament of the deceased.

woohoo! I am rich :)

*cough*

 First WA Blog Awards Nite

I noticed when I was visiting another blog called Ponderance, they had a posting about the First Annual Perth Blog Awards Night. I don’t think David is eligible since he’s overseas, but if they have a category for best ExPat Perthie blog, I’ll nominate him.

I checked my gmail this morning and noticed an email from one of the organisers using the meetup email addy advising me about the night and would be nice to see me there. Probably a standard email, but it was nice to get an email about it. I’ll probably turn up as I love the idea that Perth being in a technology bubble in an isolated corner of the world appeals to me, and I love the whole community idea. I went to the first Australian Blog conference held in Perth last year with my Ex and enjoyed the night immensely.

I think I’ll go this year to the award nights. Should be nice to meet some of the bloggers I met up with last time and see how they are going and have a quiet drink in a corner somewhere. My work habits where I finish late at night means I am unable to attend most blogger meets but still, I feel a part of the blog scene and wish to participate where possible.

I haven’t thought about nominating anyone. There is an “in” crowd I think, however, they’re all unpretentious and lovely people and will think long and hard before I send in my nomination.

 Leadership?

I found this Leadership Quiz thanks to Hammy!

heh :P

Peace my blogthren
