Headhunted!
I have an early start and can’t sleep. I have to be up in four hours to start work in 6 hours time. So it’s a good moment to get up out of bed, put my shopping away (oops i forgot) and log on to check my email.
This automatic email has been sent because an advertiser at seek.com.au wants to consider you for a vacancy after reviewing your resume saved at SEEK. Here is a message from the advertiser, outlining the opportunity that is available.
How cool! I logged on to Seek and read up on the position.
OFFICE ADMINISTRATION (hmmm I haven’t worked in Admin for a long time)
Our client is a primary producer and export company located in [censored]. We are seeking an experienced, dedicated person with a pleasant telephone manner and the ability to perform the following tasks:
* Windows / Word / Excel
* Data Entry / Word Processing
* Invoicing / Payments
* Bank Reconciliations
* Secretarial DutiesDue to maternity leave
— Well that’s me saying no. For several reasons.
So my reply to her offer follows:
Hi there [censored],
Thanks for the email and I have looked at the position advertised and I don’t believe I am the right person for the job. I have moved to customer service based positions to get out of administration. Whilst I do still use my administrative skills in my current job, I have a permanent position, not contract, and enjoy the atmosphere of a Call Centre.
Thank you once again.
Regards
Lori.
It’s nice to be headhunted, makes me smile. Just would be nice to be headhunted by someone in the industry I work in now! Not what I was in my old life, when I was stressed, constantly busy and driven by the need for money and security as all positions I had until this one, were contract. Now I have a permanent position, I am content, not as stressed, and it’s easier to say no and not take on too much work. I won’t go back to the person I was 5 years ago.
I met an old aquaintence on IRC tonight. Still peddling his schemes, and it makes me wonder if he will be on Today Tonight and ACA features on a regular basis as he gets older Sam the Scam!. Also met someone else new! Another David
I don’t know if he blogs though, but he was interesting to talk to. A person who was a contributor to a couple of PC magazines, and does stuff for an Australian Newspaper and IT manager of sorts. I had to wonder why he was on IRC on a Friday night, at least I have an excuse.

Mr Snay!! I went to bed, got up, went to work, answered the phone, finished work, visited mum and despite the fact i had very little sleep, went for a walk, got home, purchased ingredients for a beef stroggy and currently waiting for it to cook. I might even crack open a bottle of wine!
Steph.. yes I love working in it. You’re looking at someone who worked in high pressure admin jobs and got to the point that I was fantasising about my boss dropping dead in front of me when i was his personal assistant!

OMG!!
I’m glad you didn’t consider it.
Those days were INSANE!
NO MORE NOT FER FREAKING PROFIT COMPANIES!
However, I’m hoping to be Policy and Procedure Guru/HR Assistant for one of our home grown home decor companies.
Woman we need to catch up. I’m recovering from bronchitis, but after I’m done being a mucus trooper we should do coffee. I’m sick of saying it, but not following through. Pick a time and place next week.
