A conversation overheard in the call centre tonight at work, this made me laugh.
“you were downloading a program to manage MSN userpics”
“your AVG detected a virus”
“you completed downloading the file and you did what?”
“you installed the program”
“and now you can’t use the internet anymore”
“and windows is missing dll files?”
“i see”
“…”
“you have windows 98″
“Madam, you need to reformat your computer, and reinstall windows”

Yes that will do it everytime. Reminds me of the urban legend of the computer support guy asking a particularly idiotic caller if they had the box their computer came in as they were too dumb and should return it to the store it came from for a full refund!

yeah i have heard that one too, funny comment a few weeks ago came when a woman called to complain about the internet service and said “no body told ME that you needed a computer to connect to the internet!”

ooh talking of which, I know that its like selling your soul to Satan for a pony and a plastic rocket, but IPA manage the personnel contracts for iinet. If you’re looking for a step sideways (or down to the rather warm waiting room of Hades ) It could be the go.
