This is how I feel when I wake up, download my email or read my blog. I Just don’t like it.
To combat my spam problem, I of course have loaded akismet antispam on my WP in order to keep the blog spam free. Things I am spammed, pr0n, and teenage cats (figuratively speaking) and other such crap. I just want to know when is it going to end? It’s the bane of the internet user’s existence!
So where do these spammers come from? well according to Spamhaus the worst offender for where spam comes from, is the United States. Well no surprise there. Here is the top ten countries for spam according to Spamhaus.com

What’s worse, is that i get spammed from theage.com.au. I unsubscribed from their services a few weeks ago, and I am still getting their emails. I believe that’s now breaking the law. I am going to be getting mailwasher next, installing that on my PC and returning fire to the spammers. I can just hope that The Age gets wacked by the big spam ban when I report that one to Sorbs.

If you find akismet isn’t strong enough you can also download spam karma which also works well against blog comment spam or bad behaviour which blocks the actual spam bots from ever reaching your site.
As for email - i set up a subdomain on my site and set up the email for the subdomain. When i sign up for something - eg the age i would just sign up as age@subdomain and if i find i am getting spammed just direct age@subdomain to bounce back forever at the age until they get the hint
