There are plenty of employment agencies about and if you have family/contacts it should be even easier. Affordable accomodation. Might have to room with someone - there are plenty of Aussies over there - but you may wish to stay away from the cheap dormitory style hotels. Maybe stay with a friend until you find a place etc..
