Amusing article

I was reading the news earlier, about ben cousins, the death of that cricket coach for PK (i hear there is a job opening up) and read about some melbourne tunnel fires and came across an article in the ausrtalian IT section.

A US court has reversed a pr0n law.

The first two paragraphs read…

A US federal court has ruled that a 1998 law designed to block children from viewing internet pornography violates the US Constitution’s free speech protections.

The ruling sided with a challenge brought by the American Civil Liberties Union, which had argued that the provisions of the Child Online Protection Act were too restrictive.

Nice. Be interesting to see what happens next as the legal eagles and conservatives put their heads together.

What happened to parents taking responsibility for their own kids use of the internet?

My parents closely watched what my sister and I did on the PC (and this is going back when I was 18 and she was 16) and the computer was in the lounge room (btw.. talking 1991 here when we first hooked up to BBS’ and started meeting people online) So I figure this, if your kids don’t want you reading what they are writing, then they shouldn’t be doing it at all.
