Big Brother… not the TV show
I purchased a smart rider today!
Now I can tag on and tag off on my journey to and from work, or to my parents house, and they can monitor my travel patterns.
They can see where the shoppers go who catch public transport, they can see and track how many people use the services in the mornings, evenings and at night time.
Whilst this system, is good for us for saving money, the long term implications are really for things like urban development and transport planning. Tracking the migration habits of people. Perhaps they can even see when areas get too pricey and others are forced to move to cheaper areas around the city.
Smartrider indeed. Probably one of the most significant additions towards to the future needs of our city.
