EMO!! no no i mean MeMe

Thanks to Dave.. I now need to do a reciprocal meme agreement.

5 things I have never told anyone on this site before…

  1. I have a thing for soldering irons. I have picked one up, and stood on one both when I was 5 yrs old, both times it was switched on.
  2. I went to my Yr 12 Ball with a friend of my Cousin. His name was Sven, but he was not swedish, and he turned up, much to my horror, wearing hushpuppies and a regular tie, not a bow tie. He also liked to “observe people in social situations” as he was training to become an actor… What a load of wank.
  3. I used to get into so much trouble in year 5 at school, that I had to write the 100 demons in the back of the spelling book so many times, that I broke the year record with 2000 demons. It’s no wonder I know how to spell
  4. My first kiss was when I was 12, by a cute blonde boy named Zeth
  5. When going on long distance type drives, or when it’s raining, I say a couple of hail mary’s and an our father, just in case.

Who to tag…

Steph, if you are reading this, it’s your turn… I dunno who else reads this!  I don’t have that many regular commenters.. Cept for Hammy :P he might tell us 5 new ways to save money :D

 Plugin love

I have been playing when I should be in bed. So shush and let me show you two useful plugins for those using wordpress and like replying to comments.

Brian Meidells Nested comments are the bomb, and work really well with another plugin I found today.

This one was Better Comments Manager. Very easy to install aswell, both compatible with Wordpress 2.2

I found these plugins at another person’s blog - Alister Cameron. I have a link on the side bar somewhere under the bumpzee aussie blog stuff over there.. *waves to the right*. I really am starting to sound like a nerd, however I am really starting to enjoy using Wordpress and getting way more adventurous! Now I am signing off for bed, but check them out.

 Bollywood Dancing…

Last week, J started tapdancing, and she convinced me to sign up for Bollywood Dancing lessons. So I turned up to the dance studio with J in tow and wandered past the spanish dancers upstairs and signed up.

We wandered back down to the dance studio at the back, where they had just finished the beginners class. Apparently I had signed up for the Elementary class. So we stand there in our tracky dax and barefeet, looking at these skinny chicks, and a philippina woman stood next to us smiling away and nodding excitedly. Yes, I was here and I was going to be bollywooding it up. For a change, I was going to be learning something new, that required physical coordination. This is good, since all I do at work is think, at least this way, I get to concentrate on my body instead.

After warm up we started on the hip shakes and turning on the spot. Thank goodness I have a sense of rhythm, it’s been about 15 yrs since I last danced. I used to go ballroom dancing every Wednesday night at some studio in the city, and then go to the pub for some beer afterwards. It was fun, but this was something different. I remembered a couple of steps like the kick ball change, whilst .. we had to pretend we were holding oars and swooping down as we twirled around in a circle.

Then came the flicking bugs off our shoulder steps as we squatted and then half raised up, wriggled our bums, took a step to the right, scoop down, bend up, left foot across.. hands around into your standard prayer pose, jump left, and slight back.. anyways you get the picture. I had no idea that squats in gym could be used as a dance step, but there you have it. I do believe I recall asking J, “was this the class for dummies?” as the others cruised through the steps flicking bugs, scooping, and using their oars.

So Thurs and Friday I hobbled around feeling like an old woman as the backs of my thighs screamed at me like a baby. No aches and pains for the rest of the weekend, thank goodness. So I go for another class on Wednesday, to review what I think I have forgotten, and to learn more of this horrible dance that some are doing for some kind of soiree. Lucky them.

I have included below a youtube bollywood dance from some group somewhere, the music is similar to what we have to dance to. PS: thanks for the lovely positive comments about the site change :-)

 new look

now this is a new look for the blog.

i have started getting some error messages, so if you find something doesn’t work, or the site loads slower than what you are used to, can you please let me know, I might change it back to something less buggy.

Meh @ that, those error messages are removable. So I hacked away at the code, and now have less email spam from my blog! Yay for the freakychick!

John Howard makes it to YouTube!

Of course, I must draw attention to his use of Youtube, and there are further posts from John “Eyebrows” Howard.

 Happy Bastille Day!!

I remember french classes in year 10.  We had to re-enact the storming of the Bastille and setting the prisoners free. I played Louis the King, declaring my innocence before being beheaded (it was really one of those crap french things you do in class). We ate “french food” which really was an excuse for croissants, chocolate and coffee :P

So for any frenchies out there, happy independence day. I like France’s attitude, I like the secularism, I like that the french get pissy and stage massive protests. I think we need more people like the french, protesting, driving up and dumping lots of dung at the steps of parliament, or just getting angry at what we have to put up with for politicians and leaders of this country.

Too much apathy! that’s what we suffer from.

 Turning back the clock…

I am unable to sleep so I logged back on to blog for a bit.

I read David’s post about going through previous yrs and seeing what you were up to in Each month/yr/date that you have been blogging through. Pretty interesting.. alot of change.

So if anyone is reading this (I know there are a few) Do as David suggested, and I am going to suggest too, but in slightly different way. Go back through each year you have been posting and see what you blogged about for July of every year (if that’s possible)

07/01 - gran went to a nursing home, and some of my memories of her.
07/02 - ranted about trojans and viruses, and also wrote a bit about how crap my prev relationship was
07/03 - blathered on about friendships, work, and seeing the hulk!
07/04 - talking about my new job, and not liking the girly girl chat in the team.
07/05 - now single, and starting to talk to MM a bit, and suffering the effects of my illness
07/06 - returned from a trip from europe, met and hung out with MM, and over the moon…
07/07 - living with parents, saving up to move to EU to be with MM.

wow. 7 yrs of memories. I am a different woman now :-)

 Slave to the Kitchen…

Well with mum’s arm in a half cast at the moment, it is still my job to do all the cooking.

Today I created Salmon Quiche, Bacon and Mushroom Quiche, Banana Cake!. I will list the ingredients and activities for the Salmon Quiche.

Salmon (tinned or the smoked stuff, it doesn’t matter to me)
3 eggs
1 cup of milk
a fistful of english spinach
onion
pepper
Pastry
cheese

  1. Butter a pan, roll up some pasty into a ball, then roll it out onto the bench till its flat, and put into your quiche dish.
  2. Cook the onion till it is golden brown, scatter onto your pastry base.
  3. Scatter your spinach leaves over the onion
  4. Scatter your bits of salmon over spinach and onion
  5. Scatter your cheese over the spinach, onion and Salmon
  6. Beat 3 eggs, add milk, beat more, add pepper, pour into Quiche dish
  7. Bung it in the oven and cook till the pastry is golden brown

Remove from oven, let cool, serve with anything you like.

Picture will be uploaded later and added to this recipe!

After that I cleaned the bathroom. Not that interesting, but hell, I am the paid slave at the moment, and my cooking is getting better :-)
