 Norway visited.. Roskilde deferred.

Not all of this is going to be in chronological order, so I will start with some of the other stuff.

I caught a chest cold and ended up with hearing problems again! So, since I couldn’t hear and was coughing up half a lung, I sold my Roskilde Tickets to some norwegian couple who had lost theirs on the way through to roskilde, and went to see Norway instead.

Dwelling on Roskilde, am I disappointed? yes. However, that won’t stop me from trying and doing the same thing next year. Hopefully I won’t get sick. I got the cold because I wandered around the streets when it was raining (wasn’t real rain) but I got wet and didn’t dry off in time.

So lets look at Norway. LOTS of blonde people. The further north we went, the blonder people got. I have seen so much greenery, and rolling hills, lots of trees, I even saw Elk (moose for americans). Awesome bridges, and real tunnels, not like the northbridge tunnel, but tunnels through hills, the longest one being 4.8km long.

I saw The Kon Tiki exhibition, with The original balsa-wood raft, I saw the Viking Museum with real longboats, dug out of burial mounds at the turn of the 20th century. Extremely well preserved. Photo’s shortly.

I saw their maritime museum which shows the type of boats being designed, built and used. Some techniques today are the same as they were a thousand years ago. Found out that Herring, which is these days is a delicacy, was nearly fished out nearly a century ago, so now they have all these rules and quota.

No I didn’t try any Whale Steak, not that I looked for any, the price of everything in norway is immense. I paid close to $5 for a small 600ml bottle of ice tea. The cheapest food was of course maccas, so I had some.

The only way to look at everything in Oslo is to buy their Oslo card, which gives free parking and use of their buses and trains and ferries. Also gives you free entry to their museums and art galleries. Definitely worth it. A bit of an open secret, I saw a few americans paying for tickets individually rather than flashing their “oslo” passes like me.

I went to a natural history museum and saw real dinosaurs and stuff. Tyranusaurus Rex. Awesome. Lots of cool rocks and stuff, like why Scandanavia is so diverse. (for a nerd like me that is interesting) Saw their gem display, awesome stuff. And finally but not least, I went to the Munch Museum. I stood in front of some of his pieces, looking at the frantic brush strokes. He did very typical portraits of his parents and sister, and later on, a classic Munch impression of his sister. He did many versions of the same artwork, including “the scream”. The original is still in the gallery, but the one with vivid colours, that was the one that was stolen.

The security was intense, a guard in every room, and your stuff was xrayed, and you had to go through a beep machine aswell. They take their stuff seriously these days. Once more the prices for souvenirs was exhorbitant, however.. I knew this was where my hip pocket was going to be hit, and I accepted those charges gladly.

I think overall, Norway was an excellent choice to visit. I should go again, I want to see the Leprosy museum in Bergen :>

Sad to hear about Roskilde. One of those things on your lifes list of things to do that hasn’t been crossed out yet.

Bergen is very picturesque. Make sure that you take the train out to Flam and take the valley train down to the fjord - unmissable.

I have to do my hair tomorrow.. do the colouring, then go get it cut, and my sister is going to streak it tomorrow night. I spent so much on underwear, and new makeup and moisturiser (i am dissatisfied with innoxa and moving back to nivea). I am also going to get a leg wax done. Never had it done before professionally. My sister thought a full leg wax, but I think I will just settle for half a leg. She also suggested a bikini wax.. but I think I will just do my usual for those bits.

I have everything organised finally. Passports, money, packing is half done. (undies, bra’s, socks, night wear, toiletries bag) 2 pairs of jeans will be packed, about 7 tshirts, 2 nice shirts, my black cardigan, 1 pair of shoes. I am only taking 2 pairs. In my backpack will be chargers for my mp3 player and rechargeable batteries. Camera, toiletry bag, 1 big book, mobile phone and MP3 player. I should dig out my puzzlebook.

I might also get a massage tomorrow. I need to try and be relaxed and loose. Then I also have to think about drinking lots of water in the next 2 days, and take half an asprin tomorrow and saturday. Apparently I will be getting travel socks from my sister, awesome.

I hope I haven’t forgotten anything.

 Roskilde …

Not sure what else I will need, but I think a rainjacket might be good.

I am going to get a sleeping bag when I am in Sweden, since it will probably be a little more suitable than bringing one from Oz.

I am running out of time and days ..

Yes, 8 days from Today.

I finally remembered my Friday night..

Everything is in place. I rang the airlines, for SAS and brunei, confirmed dates and times, I have roskilde tickets.

I didn’t feel like working today. So I did as little as possible. However I need to comment that my friend J and I have discovered we like looking at the bloke. We were out drunk on friday night, and stumbling between pubs, I think I commented about this guy being hot and then it was like.. yeah.. he is hot. He rocks, and we like staring at him and stuff. Lucky for me he is in the team I am looking after, so I get to spend some eyecandy time. Gotta love window shopping!!
OK so lets talk about Friday night.

I was out with friends celebrating our anniversary date working at the company I slave for, we got drunk and kicked out of the pub (Grosvenor) at 9.30pm, so we staggered up to fenians.. and someone brought me a drink, a mudslide.. was nice. Anyways, we sms’d a friend’s hubby to let him know that she was OK. Then somewhere in the alcoholic haze, we figured that she had a headache. So out came the nurofen, and someone commented that the pills on the table looked sus. We were in this booth which was secluded.. and I dunno what got into me… I grabbed a beerglass, and wacked it down on the neurofen and out came the credit cards and the rolled up bills. Totally shocked one of my mates when he came back from the loo and it looked like we were doing lines. For a bunch of 25 - 35 year olds, we were incrediblly immature. Yes we have pics, but due to the nature of those pics, i won’t be posting them! Just use your imagination. :D

 Crappy posts for May

I just did a post review and fuck me, did I post a load of crap this month.

I would apologise but I don’t care.

So I purchased a stack of money for my trip.. £40, and 300 danish crowns and 300 Swedish Kronor. ($100 + 75 + 50) Quite cool, amex have this promo to buy currency and not take a commission for it. Probably not the BEST value, but convenient, since I have basically done the whole trip online.

I searched for and paid for my ticket to the UK, and DK online, my ticket to Roskilde - online, my travel insurance - online, most of my passports - obtained online, my Birth Certificate request online app, then print and fax off.

I am pretty organised now with my trip, just need one more large bag for my luggage, oh and then I need to buy clothes for the trip.!!! New undies and bra’s! what an excuse!! I love it. What’s the best way to pack.. Roll.. or fold?

How to correct a Danish person who thinks they are important

Well it’s not really about that, but I wanted to upgrade a ticket so I could get a Roskilde Tent, already put up, with a number, and it’s a collectible item afterwards as you get to take it home! They advertised the getatend promo, and then said email info@ and then didn’t say much else except for today..

Emne: Get A Tent - where is your reply

Hi

My friend emailed you regarding upgrading one of the tickets to a Get A Tent. The newsletter email I receive stated you would reply with information on how to convert his ticket. No such reply has been received. Please advise what we must do to upgrade one of the tickets he has for a Get A tent ticket. Thanks

So I get a reply..

Hi,

If you go to www.billetnet.dk, you can purchase an additional Get A Tent ticket.

Obviously he didn’t read my email. I don’t want to purchase another ticket. So I said so.

He replied back with this:

You will need to buy an additional Get A Tent ticket - that’s the only way around it, I’m afraid.

Fine. but by then, I have the ticket I want. So I replied with this:

It’s fine…

I found on the billetnet.dk site, an option to buy the tent ticket only (500DKK) without needing to buy another Roskilde ticket for 1300+kr (since I already have one of those). Maybe you could direct people to this link?

No reply yet, but I wouldn’t expect one, he waited until the end of his working day to send me the so sorry but i am totally incapable of giving you the correct website to purchase our tent, which really isn’t worth 500DKK but we thought it was a good idea at the time.

I now have access to free hot water, and free food, and no work, and no rush to get to the tent in the first place.

I See!! Said the blind man to the deaf man.

I don’t really, but it felt like a good title at the time.

I felt a little frustrated at work today when I had to tell someone off for doing something. One of the things I really dislike about being someone who can write up filenotes that affect another person’s career, is how careful you have to be at wording everything, and documenting it all. Then the chick got feisty! That made me laugh, I still felt bad for making her feel like shit. Ah well.

OK X is getting me more $$ - just great now that I know how much the car is going to cost to fix, AND how much the travel insurance is going to cost, which is pretty good! I am very excited! I am going to be finishing doing the passport thing next week, so bloody irritating that I didn’t have all the documentation and life is that much harder now I don’t have a car to drive places like.. to parent’s house to get dad’s aussie passport.
MM got me a bike!!! For when I visit! That makes me happy, I asked JJ what she thought and she started singing Daisy Daisy give me your answer, do… and if no one knows the rest of that song I’ll write it out later. She has dubbed MM some name that I can’t reveal, but it has resulted in him calling her Sheila and her new squeeze Bruce!

Roskilde is looking awesome! So many cool bands going.. and folk singers and the like.. Franz Ferdinand, Guns’n'Roses, Bob Dylan, Roger Waters, Wolfmother, Opeth, WhomadeWho. Its going to be a massive time and I will be submerged in music! I am more excited about that at times than I am about the fact I am meeting MM! All that being said, It’s going to be a special time and I am going to enjoy travelling around EU by myself.

 Roskilde! Ticket time!

Here tis.. my ticket.

my roskilde ticket

Looks purty doesn’t it?

I removed the identifying information and ticket numbers!

I like it! *hugs the ticket*
